John returned to the Bar in 2014, having spent 20 years in private practice as a solicitor in both magic circle and US firms, most recently having established the London tax group of Ropes & Gray. He has a broad experience in corporate and financial tax issues, and has acted for FTSE100 companies, investment banks, private equity funds, private companies, and entrepreneurs and management teams. He has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Chambers UK, Chambers Europe and Chambers Global directories.
John is Chair of the Tax Law Committee of the Law Society of England & Wales and is regularly involved in their discussions of policy and legislation with HM Treasury and HMRC.
